Marriage and Family Life
A general perspective on Marriage and Family Life – by Rev. Fr. V. M. Abraham
“For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a great mystery, and I am applying it to Christ and the church. Each of you, however, should love his wife as himself, and a wife should respect her husband.” – Ephesians 5:31-33
Marriage is a sacrament. In marriage, two people are bought together in love, mutual respect, and commitment. A husband and a wife are called by the Holy Spirit not only to live together but also to share their Christian life together. The purpose of marriage is to receive the blessings of God and to be part of the creation of new life.
