St.Gregorios MGOCSM plays an active role in bringing together our church students on the three pillars of worship, study, and service.
Our unit members actively take part in Holy Qurbana as acolytes in the Madbaha, and lead evening prayer and church choir. Our church youth has grown in faith by attending bible study sessions, retreats, and youth conferences including Team Christ where they learn about finding purpose in life, society’s influence on our beliefs, and staying firm within our faith.
The MGOCSM children participated in fellowship activities and group discussions focused on the journeys of forgiveness, healing, and salvation through Christ. During the pandemic, MGOCSM conducted Zoom meetings where students learned methods of dealing with stress and anxiety during the stress management session. These sessions offered valuable insight into how adolescents can make a difference in society.
Our MGOCSM unit also coordinates with other Spiritual Organizations to conduct Good Friday Vigil, service projects, and parish activities such as Father’s day celebrations, High school graduate celebrations, OVBS, and Ecumenical Christmas service. MGOCSM led and created volunteer T-shirts for church members and published newsletters. Our members wrote thank you notes to St.Gregorios essential workers during the pandemic.
MGOCSM leads the effort to organize the Souper Bowl of Caring event to collect canned food during the most watched sports event in the US. In partnership with e-Pidi-ari group, several pounds of canned food was collected and donated to Caritas of Austin. Service projects over the years included donating canned food to Capital Area Food Bank, Feed My Starving Children food packing events, Manor ISD School supply packing event, Down Home Ranch for the Texas Chainsaw Manicure, Operation Christmas Child for the underprivileged children around the world and Coats for kids in Austin. Packing supplies for the needy was administered by Caritas of Austin, a nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional support for numerous people in poverty within Travis County. We have also participated in disaster relief initiatives such as Nepal Earthquake Fundraiser.
